Molten silica micro powder manufacturers indicate that commonly used modifiers for chemical modification of quartz sand surfaces include silane coupling agents (amino, epoxy, methacryl, trimethyl, methyl, and vinyl), aluminate coupling agents, titanate coupling agents, stearic acid composite agents, etc. Among them, silane coupling agents are mainly used.

Quartz sand powder modified with silane coupling agent is used as a filler for polymer based electrical equipment materials, which can improve its bending strength and enhance its ability to withstand ultraviolet radiation. Moreover, due to the absence of severe blackening after breakdown, it has good resistance to small electrical leakage.

Surface modification of quartz tailings was carried out using titanium acid ester coupling agent. The modified quartz tailings have good waterproof performance and can be used at a temperature of 21 ℃. It can be used as a filler for plastics such as polyethylene, and the filling amount can be appropriately increased to reduce costs while ensuring the processability and physical and mechanical properties of the product.

When using aluminate coupling agent and stearic acid composite agent for dry modification of quartz sand powder as rubber filler, its mechanical properties can be significantly improved.

High porosity ultrafine quartz sand used as a matting agent for coatings, leather products, cosmetics, etc. is generally modified by surface coating with fatty acids (such as stearic acid) and polyethylene wax.

Cationic surfactants such as hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide can also be used for surface modification of quartz sand powder. Due to the low isoelectric point of quartz sand powder, particles are usually negatively charged in aqueous media, and the charge point increases with increasing pH value. After surface treatment with cationic surface modifiers, the negative charge on the particle surface gradually decreases and eventually transforms into positively charged particles.
