(1) Activation index

(2) Oil absorption value

The oil absorption value is one of the main direct indicators for the modification of quartz sand powder, especially for quartz sand fillers used in polymer matrix materials. The size

 of the oil absorption value of the filler directly affects the processing performance and filling amount of the composite material.

The higher the oil absorption value, the poorer the compatibility between the modified product and organic matter, and it also indicates that the modification effect is worse, and 

vice versa, the better.

(3) Infrared spectroscopy

Infrared spectroscopy can be an important means of detecting whether the surface of quartz sand powder is coated with modifiers. Each functional group or bond has corresponding 

characteristic absorption peaks in the infrared spectrum. By analyzing the infrared spectrum of quartz sand powder before and after modification and comparing the changes in characteristic 

peaks, it can be seen whether the modification is effective. This method has been widely applied in practice.
